The Vietnamese delegation are participating in activities during the programme ‘Meeting in the homeland of President Xuphanuvong’ co-organised by the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association and the Laos – Vietnam Friendship Association from July 11-16, on the occasion of the late President’s 110th birthday anniversary.
Speaking at the reception, Politburo member Phankham Viphavan emphasised that the Vietnamese delegation’s visit to Laos will contribute to enhancing the great friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
He also expressed his sincere thanks to the delegates and their relatives for their contributions to the Lao revolution as well as the protection and serving work of President Xuphanuvong.
Vice Chairman and General Secretary of Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association Nguyen Van My said that, in the meeting with students and relatives of late President Xuphanuvong the same day, the Vietnamese representatives learnt more about his life and career, particularly the relations between the President and Vietnam.
The delegation also attended a photo exhibition on the late State leader of Laos.
Vietnamese delegates had the opportunity to directly talk with Nhotkeomani Xuphanuvong, the fifth daughter of the late President Xuphanuvong, and officials involved in the conservation of documents related to him.
In a cozy and friendly atmosphere, officials who were close to President Xuphanuvong retold many touching stories of the great leader of the Lao people.
The delegation will attend other important events to mark the 110th birthday anniversary of President Xuphanuvong.
