Cao Bang asked to focus on developing tourism and high-tech agriculture

The Government official made the request during a working session of the provincial leaders on March 15 to review the province’s outcomes in implementing its socio-economic development tasks and Party building in 2018.

He applauded the province in fulfilling all of its 18 socio-economic development targets and Party building set for 2018 with impressive figures including VND1.9 trillion in budget collection, 1.2 million of visitors travelling to the province, up 23% and 29% as compared to the previous year, respectively.

However, he also pointed out several remaining issues which need addressing in the province, including poverty reduction, the building of new rural areas, and the relatively low income of local residents.

Therefore, he suggested to build more attractive tourist products for visitors in order to benefit locales and raise revenue from tourist activities.

Regarding agricultural areas, he called for more support to be given to businesses and farmers by the local authorities in order to apply advanced technology in production, while stepping up the deployment of the ‘One village one product’ (OVOP) programme.

He also requested for drastic measure in building new rural areas, improving the investment and business environment, and mobilising all available resources to improve traffic networks and logistics systems in order to boost border trade.

Earlier the same day, Deputy PM Hue offered incense to President Ho Chi Minh City and hero-martyr Kim Dong, and visited a farming model in Da Quan village, Hung Dao commune, Cao Bang city.

He also saluted soldiers at the Duc Long Broder Post and presented 50 scholarships to students at Cao Bang provincial boarding school for ethnic minority children.
