Addressing the ceremony, the NA Chairwoman highlighted the vision and ideology of President Ho Chi Minh towards environmental protection as he initiated the tree planting practice 60 years ago.
She emphasised that the launch of the tree planting festival today aims to promote the significance of tree planting and mobilise people from all walks of life to plant trees in order to protect the environment and adapt to climate change.
The NA Chairwoman beat the gong to launch the festival and alongside the leaders and local people of Hoa Binh planted trees at the festival.
The tree planting festival themed “Forever grateful to Uncle Ho” was jointly organised by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and Toyota Vietnam.
Tree planting is an annual practice during the Tet holiday in response to President Ho Chi Minh’s teaching, which contributes to afforestation, economic development and preserving the living environment for the people.
