NEW DELHI: Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav created a flutter in Lok Sabha by stating that he wished Prime Minister Narendra Modi becomes PM once again.
While making the valedictory speech on the last day of the 16th Lok Sabha before the 2019 general elections, Yadav said, “I wish pradhan mantriji becomes pradhan mantri once again.”
While Modi folded his hands to thank him and NDA members thumped the table to welcome Yadav’s statement, UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi looked flustered.
In fact, Yadav had wished well for Modi and the NDA moments earlier. He said, “I wish all MPs get elected again and come back to the Lok Sabha.”
It meant that the BJP again gets absolute majority as it did in 2014 Lok Sabha election. The statement also comes at a time when Yadav’s son Akhilesh Yadav has joined hands with BSP supremo Mayawati + to contest against the BJP in Uttar Pradesh which returns the maximum 80 out of 543 seats to the Lok Sabha.
Yadav said, “Pradhan mantri ko badhaai dena chahta hun ki pradhan mantri ne sabko saath lekar chalne ki koshish ki hai. Main kehna chahta hun ki saare sadaysa phir se jeet kar aayen, aur aap (PM) dobara pradhan mantri banein (I want to congratulate the PM that he tried to take everybody along. I want to state that all the MPs get elected again. And you (PM) become PM again.”
The SP leader said Modi did everyone’s work and no one made any adverse comments against him.
“He has ensured that we had a fruitful session. Whenever I went to him for any work, he immediately ordered its implementation.
Former PM and Janata Dal (Secular) leader HD Deve Gowda later too praised Modi.
