As many as 183 people have been killed and 241 others injured in 276 traffic accidents which occurred during nine-day Tet holiday according to a report from the Ministry of Public Security.

On February 10 alone, which was the last Tet holiday, there were 28 accidents, leaving 22 dead and 19 injured, the report said.

According to the ministry, the number of fatalities caused by traffic accidents this year fell by 28% compared to last year’s figure.
Traffic police dealt with over 21,343 violations and seized 3,935 cars and motorbikes in the nine days.
The ministry has also called for better cooperation from the Ministry of Transport to prepare for the high travel demand as there are many traditional festivals held nation-wide.
